Church membership is a biblical principle showing the church as an organized unit or family and becoming a member is an important step in deepening your commitment to Christ. Scriptural references of church as a family include Romans 12:4-5 (a body of members); John 10:2 (a fold of sheep); and 1 Corinthians 1:2 (a church of saints). It is at church that we develop healthy, wholesome relationships with fellow believers. Membership also provides accountability to the work and support of the ministry for God’s kingdom. Jesus’ commitment to His Church (the body of believers) includes calling committed pastors to watch for our souls (Heb. 13:17), so it is important for us to be committed to an assembly so that we can be guided, nurtured, loved, and taught.

I’m ready to join! What’s the first step?
In order to be apart of the body of Christ you have to be born into it. You cannot just walk up and join, but as Jesus Christ decreed and declared to Nicodemus, you must be born again (John 3:1-6). Or maybe you are already a born again believer and you’re looking to move your membership to Lighthouse, the first step is to schedule an consultation with our pastor, Elder Levi Adams, by calling (708) 488-5696.

What’s next?

After your consultation, whether you are new to the Apostolic faith or new to Lighthouse from another Apostolic church, you are making a commitment to our church whose emphasis and perspectives may be different from your previous experiences (Apostolic or other). As a new believer you are required to attend Sunday School and Bible Class for 8 weeks. You are to meet with the pastor for guidance and for clarity about any additional questions you may have that were not asked during a class session. This will be your opportunity to receive one-on-one training. His class teachings are to help you become acclimated to your new church family. The class will also help you discover your spiritual gifts based on your natural talents and passions. The class will also help you find your place in ministry at Lighthouse.

Is there a formal acceptance of new members?

Yes. You will be welcomed into the Lighthouse family through the Right Hand of Fellowship after you have finished your classes that following Sunday. You will be presented, warmly received and greeted by your new family!

Membership Class Required

We strongly encourage all new members to attend membership classes. We believe that this first step connection in learning and understanding our values and expectations, will have a lasting impact upon your commitment to the service of God.
